Went to the local shop to get some milk and had 2 separate people mention my weight, loudly and nastily. Not being funny, when the fuck was it a stranger’s business if I’m fat? It’s not.
An elderly man in my local corner shop said to the cashier when I bent over in the fridge to get some milk, ”Woah look at that slab of meat!” The cashier was also overweight but because he was a man, the old man didn’t feel the need to humiliate him. I turned around and he was looking straight at me, staring and smiling.
Then I started walking home and a group of young teenage girls were close behind me and one said, ”I’m a mess so no boy wants to go out with me”, and another said loudly, ”I bet that girl's got a boyfriend!”, and started laughing.
Like, why do people think saying things like this is okay? It’s degrading and highly upsetting, I’d never even seen these people before.
Also, the next time you think about saying something horrible about someone’s weight, remember you are NOT doing them a favor by mentioning it! These people don’t go home and feel driven to lose weight - they go home and EAT. We eat our feelings, put on more weight and get teased about it. IT’S A FUCKING CYCLE PEOPLE.
YOU ARE NOT HELPING US LOSE WEIGHT BY CALLING US FAT OR COMMENTING ”WOAH, LOOK AT THAT SLAB OF MEAT”, YOU ARE BREAKING US DOWN AND MAKING US FEEL WORTHLESS, AND FAT PEOPLE ARE NOT FUCKING WORTHLESS.
SO NEXT TIME YOU GO TO MAKE A FAT JOKE REMEMBER HOW FUCKING RUDE YOU’RE BEING AND THAT THE NEXT BAR OF CHOCOLATE WE EAT MAY BE BECAUSE OF YOU.
